Special Margaret Gray Edition of My Darling Anna

The ultimate triumph of the cultural transfer from Mount Pleasant to Fairhaven and the legacy of Will and Anna Gray are found in the life and career of their only child “Miss Gray”.   The passion for theater that Will Gray passed on to Margaret still survives as his legacy in the vibrant theatrical institutions of Whatcom County.

This special section of “My Darling Anna” and the hour long digital recording that accompanies it is our tribute to this beloved teacher.   In a very personal way this is also author Brian Griffin’s gift to Margaret’s memory and to all of those readers who share his memories of her.  Those who did not know her will gain insight into her career and character and the particular influence that she had on so many young lives during her long teaching career.

This limited special supplement to “My Darling Anna” is offered as a special recognition of the contributions which Margaret Gray made to the cultural life of her community in her forty-five years as an educator in the Bellingham school system.  An attached CD includes recordings of:

  • Historian Galen Biery's interview with Margaret  in 1971

  • KGMI radio host Haines Fay interview with Margaret in 1971

  • Duets from Merry Widow, 1945 and New Moon, 1946 --
Operettas from Bellingham High School sung by Norris Brannstron and Eloise Tweit
