Senator James Harlan was an important citizen of Mount Pleasant, Iowa.

A last minute edit by Neelie in "My Darling Anna" (page 12 ) resulted in information that was not correct.

James Harlan was selected by Abraham Lincoln to be the Secretary of the Interior in his administration.  Due to Lincoln's assassination Harlan served under Andrew JOHNSON instead.
