History of Boom Town Fairhaven 1890

My Darling Anna celebrates Fairhaven's early history when the population in 1889 was just 150 -- and a year later, close to 7,000 new residents.  It was a dynamic time during the "Boom."    Author and Historian Brian Griffin is known for his ability to tell a great story, and together with letters by Dr. William R. Gray from 1890, there is a story to tell and local history to be discovered!   The book contains historically significant photos, some never before published.  Over 200 images  and an illustrated endnotes enhance the story of Fairhaven's early years.

The book is available at Village Books, Greenhouse and Whatcom Museum Lightcatcher.

"Bellingham history buffs know the quality of historian Brian Griffin’s work from his splendid Boulevard.Park. In this new book he and co-author Neelie Nelson treat us to a love story that is also a true story.   ~ C.X. Larrabee, II, Grandson of C.X. Larrabee

"Will Gray’s letters tell how it really was to live on the mud streets of Fairhaven in 1890. They convey the excitement and frustrations of those wild days of the "Boom”. Griffin and Nelson, through their exhaustive research, have given us previously unseen insights into our past. This book is a ‘must read’ if you value history. The amazing photos alone are worth the purchase price.”           ~ Gordon Tweit, Fairhaven Pharmacist, Historian & Lifelong Resident
